José Antonio Romualdo Pacheco was born in Santa Barbara, Calif., October 31, 1831. He was the first Latino Governor of the state of California under the United States. He also served as United States Representative for three terms. Pacheco served as U.S. Ambassador to EL Salvador, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Guatemala and Honduras.
Latinos have contributed to the United States greatly. Throughout the years we have fought for equality while maintaining our positions as leaders and achievers in this country. Pa’lante will take a look back in history at our Latino fathers and mothers who paved the way for us to succeed.
