Michele Bachmann has all but officially announced her candidacy for President. According to usatoday.com “last week, a series of amendments were
made to the majority of her campaign committee’s reports beginning in 2008, according to Federal Election Commission filings — a move that campaign experts say means she could be preparing for the scrutiny of a national campaign.” She is reportedly raising money with the goal of ”help[ing] make Barack Obama a one-term president.”
On the other hand, there is Sarah Palin who has taken off on her bus tour offering no clues as to where she will end up. Like Bachmann she has yet to officially announce her candidacy for President. Msnbc.com reports that Palin made an uninvited appearance to a ”motorcycle rally sponsored by Rolling Thunder Inc., a group that raises awareness of prisoners of war and those missing in action.” Palin is seemingly trying to outwit the media by playing the guessing game but all can see through her actions. She is not outsmarting anyone.
Besides the common factors we have presented, we would also like to reiterate that both Sarah and Michele share the ideology of the Tea Party and count on “popular” support to earn the Republican Party nomination as Presidential candidates. But would they be able to translate their popularity into votes? Would a majority of Americans truly believe either one of these women, although smart in their own rights, can pull an offset against Barack Obama?
Our hopes is that the Republican and Tea Partiers get ready for the landslide by which Obama would win if that would be the case. Do not say we did not warn you.
