When Newt Gingrich called for a more “humane” policy on undocumented immigrants, the GOP Presidential hopefuls jumped on the offensive. Romney has already strategized a plan to attack the former speaker of the house. ”Mr. Romney repeatedly used the word “amnesty” during a campaign visit here (Des Moines, Idaho) to describe the position Mr. Gingrich outlined at a debate Tuesday night” (nytimes.com).
Gingrich responded with this tweet:
Michele Bachmann sat down with Jim Brown from PBS Newshour yesterday and discussed her take on the Gingrich’s position on immigration reform. Bachmann stated:
“Those are powerful magnets. And he probably has the most liberal position on illegal immigration of any of the candidates in the race.”
Already, many Latinos are agreeing with Gingrich on his approach for responsible immigration reform. But Gingrich belongs to party that has lost its Reagan persona. Now republican must make a decision that will affect their candidate’s chances of winning the 2012 Presidential election.
